Good news for *Deltarune* fans: developer Toby Fox has confirmed that Nintendo Switch owners who purchase *Deltarune* Chapters 1–4 will get a free the Nintendo Switch 2 version when it launches. 2i2t23
The announcement came shortly after *Deltarune* was featured in the recent Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, where Chapters 3 and 4 finally received an official release date. While Chapters 1 and 2 were previously released for free, the chapters will be paid.
Fox revealed the cross-buy deal in the latest *Deltarune* newsletter, ensuring that Switch players won’t need to repurchase the game when upgrading to the new console. PlayStation s will also benefit from a similar PS4-to-PS5 upgrade.
The Switch 2, launching on June 5, 2025, is shaping up to be a major release with titles like *Mario Kart World*, *Hollow Knight: Silksong*, and *FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods* ing the lineup. Alongside *Deltarune*, Nintendo also announced new exclusives such as *Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment*, *Donkey Kong Bananza*, and *Kirby Air Riders*.
